Saturday saw hundreds of Nevadan’s congregate in Downtown Art District, Las Vegas for the March for Science. The March for Science was not only about scientists and politicians; it was about the very real role that science plays in each of our lives and the need to respect and encourage research that gives us insight into the world.

The crowd included people of all ages from a huge variety of backgrounds. There crowd were treated to excellent speeches from scientists, University Professors and the highly impressive high school students. One could not be helped from being cheered by the passion so many have for our natural world and the role science has within it.

There was a big call for science to be used in educating policy, rather than being dismissed in favor of corporate interests and individual agendas. Science has taught us so much already and it’s only the tip of the iceberg. Ignoring science, or removing its availability could be very dangerous for society.

Southern Nevada as a region is moving forward in terms of using science to reduce its impact on the environment. School groups, educators, Public entities and big business are all looking to ensure a successful future for Nevada and events like this show how determined they are to make sure this progress is not halted.
