Sustainability factors affect majority of S&P 500 executives pay. Sustainability is now a factor in assessing the pay of executives at more than half of the S&P 500 companies, according to an analysis by GMI Ratings. At some companies, executive bonuses up to as much as 40% are tied to sustainability targets. Sustainability compensation was highest for the utility and energy sectors and lowest for the non-cyclical consumer goods and services sector.
