The 1-acre garden, featuring 64 full-irrigated raised garden beds, officially opened for the season on April 1st.  The raised beds are for lease to community members for $60 for the season, ending March 31st, 2018.  As of this week, there are only 3 raised beds left!  Also, the Community Workshop and Chef Demonstrations are ongoing and the next one is tomorrow morning at 9:00 am.  Please see attached for full schedule and details.

It has been an exciting week in the garden…

  • The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension (UNCE) is sponsoring (30) raised garden beds for the community!  They are being sponsored by the UNCE Foodspan Program’s Food Citizen Action Project.  This program is dedicated to the promotion of healthy food systems and provides education about all aspects of the food system from field to plate.
  • Also, the Zion Community Garden will be receiving the 2017 GREENfest Transformers Award, presented by USGBC Nevada and Green Alliance!  This award recognizes the Zion Community Garden as the leader in “making dramatic change in the community, while moving the mindset toward a sustainable society.”  The award reception is next Friday, 4/28/17.  If you are interested in attending this event, please let me know and I will forward you registration information.

The future for the community garden…
